Revitalise your teeth

There are many reasons why your teeth may stain.
These include:
  • The natural aging process
  • Smoking, drinking coffee, tea, red wine, and eating pigmented foods such as tomato ketchup, curries, cherries, blueberries etc.
  • Build-up of plaque and tartar on the teeth
  • Ingesting too much fluoride (more than 2 parts fluoride per million parts water) when teeth are forming, which gives teeth a “mottled” look
  • Treatment with the antibiotic “Tetracycline” during childhood
  • Trauma to the teeth that may cause a brown, grey or black colour

What are the effects of teeth whitening?

It is normal to feel some slight sensitivity both during and after teeth whitening. However, most people will experience only mild sensitivity; indeed some experience nothing whatsoever. A very small percentage of people feel severe sensitivity which can be uncomfortable but will pass without any long term side effects within a few days.

Tooth whitening is not harmful to your teeth. The effect on your teeth is no different to the effect from commonly ingested foods or regular dental procedures.

Most people see results from the whitening procedure within a couple of days.

How white will my teeth go?

How white will my teeth go?

This depends on a number of factors and results will vary between patients. Generally speaking, we can return your teeth to the whiteness they were when you were a teenager (sometimes even whiter).
Our system will enable your teeth to be as white as they will naturally go.

Will my teeth remain permanently white?

If you take care of your teeth and are aware of what caused the stain and discolouration in the first place and try to avoid them in the future then the answer is YES!
Brush your teeth twice daily with a recommended tooth paste or tooth serum.
If not, the results will generally last for one to two years but with regular gentle top-up treatments you can maintain the original treatment's effect.
Our recommended protocol for maintaining the desired effect is:

Year One: overnight whitening top-up with a home custom fitted whitening tray and recommended whitening agent every two months
Year Two: overnight whitening top-up every four months
Year Three and beyond: overnight whitening top-up every six months.

At the Ryde Studio we have many patients that follow this protocol are very happy with the maintained results.
