Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over the front visible tooth surface which can improve the colour, shape and size of the tooth.
Porcelain veneers are an ideal form of treatment if you have any of the following:
- Chipped teeth
- Stained and discoloured teeth
- Spacing between the teeth (which you are unhappy with).
- Mildly crooked teeth.
- Teeth that aren’t in ideal shape (e.g. too short or too narrow)
Crowns and bridges
A crown is a tooth-shaped cover which is used to restore a decayed, broken, brittle or discoloured tooth or a tooth which has been replaced by an implant.
A bridge can be used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. There are different types of bridges, depending on how they are made and the way they anchor to the adjacent teeth, but the basic principle is the same.
White fillings
A white filling can be used to restore part of a tooth lost by damage or decay. If the tooth can be isolated from the saliva then a white filling may be placed.
Unlike silver (amalgam) fillings, a composite applies itself to the teeth and can form edges so it may be used to repair front teeth that have become damaged or broken. It can also be used as a veneer to cover marks in the teeth.
